Vera Kaufman – Photographer

Vera Kaufman - Morning Glory
“Morning Glory” / Ink Jet Print

Vera Kaufman’s early training in the arts was in drawing and pastels, which taught her the fundamentals of composition and imagery. She received her photography education at the Manchester Institute of Arts and Sciences in New Hampshire. Her courses included both black and white and color photography with additional training in darkroom procedures and studio portraiture. She also participated in black and white photography training with Gary Samson, a well-known New Hampshire portrait photographer and filmmaker. Her passion is capturing the minute details of nature’s wonders and, on a larger scale, to glorious landscapes. Thoughtfully composed images isolate a subject with concentration on color, lighting and texture from her perspective. Her passion is photographing nature and then sharing her excitement of discovery and beauty with the viewer.

Rachel Korn – Mixed Media Artist

Rachel Korn-Untitled

“Untitled” / Mixed Media

Rachel Korn works in multiple media as this gives her freedom to explore texture, color, and line without limitations. In “Untitled”, the use of pastels allows her to achieve a smooth opaqueness and dramatic contrast, the addition of acrylic paint provides textural interest. She is inspired by the human face and form and often begins with a female face. A narrative component emerges as she solves the formal problems of the piece. Rachel received a BFA in Painting from UMass Amherst. She has also studied at Northeastern University and DeCordova Museum School.

B. Glee Lucas – Painter

“Delft Blue” / Ink Jet Print

(please inquire about original oils)

The transformation of form and identity is a central theme in Lucas’s “stillscape” paintings. Her compositions represent a continuing interest in the visual and physical changes of the landscape and still life elements they include. She strives to capture on canvas what she observes - as reflected and refracted light alters shapes and scatters color – analogous with our personal imprints on the world. Each painting is created in oil on canvas with an intense focus on the subject matter that invites the viewer to share the richness and dimensions of the subject and consider beauty created and lost through change. Her paintings have been juried into several national and regional competitions including the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club (NYC), the Blanche Ames National Art Exhibition (MA) and the Cambridge (MA) and Concord (MA) Art Associations. The work is represented in collections in the central, eastern and southern United States.

Carolyn Macrae – Photographer

Carolyn Macrae - Morning Tide
“Morning Tide” / Color Print

Carolyn Macrae got her first camera when she was nine or ten, and immediately fell in love with the magic of making images. In 1994, having raised her family and experienced several mid-life changes, she rediscovered photography as a means to think beyond herself and see her surroundings in a new way. As she walked the beach pondering the next phase of her life, she began to take her camera along, shooting shells, bits of seaweed, rocks, and waves. Tidal pools were of special interest because she could see what was under the water as well, but muted and needing a closer look. In making images, her preference is to portray the natural world around us in ways that illustrate its life, power, and often fragile beauty. Photography is both an art and a craft. The art is in seeing, creating, and choosing the images, and the craft lies in the techniques involved in reproducing and displaying them.
